FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (January 28, 2014) – The Berkley Group has donated 25 fully-furnished condos for fishing pros participating in the Channing Crowder Bass Fishing Tournament. The event, which takes place January 31 and February 1, invites local anglers to fish with the pros and features the largest bass fishing payout available in Broward County. The tournament benefits the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County.
The Berkley Group gift, valued at $30,000, provides lodging at the company’s Vacation Village at Weston resort for FLW fishing pros and their families. The donation prompted tremendous response from participants: Bass fishing tournaments typically take place in areas with limited housing opportunities, so pros were happy to be able to bring along their loved ones. Award-winning bass fishermen Mike Surman, Randall Tharp, David Dudley, and others will enjoy the relaxing environment and amenities available at the property.
The tournament takes place at Everglades Holiday Park in Fort Lauderdale. The two-day event also features youth bass fishing with Boys and Girls Club youth, as well as an awards program, food, entertainment, and live and silent auction at Ron Bergeron’s Green Glades Ranch in Weston.
